Welcome to Andrew Payne Racing

Passionate • Honest • Hands-on • Focussed

The Payne racing family is one that does not fall short on equine experience or talent. Eight of the ten siblings have ridden in races, and father Pat and grandfather Wilfred trained with success in New Zealand and Australia. After retiring from riding, Andrew had no hesitations in taking out his training licence - his passion for training had developed from a young age and there was no occupation he would rather have taken up.

Based at the state-of-the-art Ballarat Training Complex, Andrew runs a 'boutique' training business. Andrew relishes the challenge of bringing out the best in a horse, and is content on keeping numbers to a manageable level so as to maintain an intimate knowledge of each horse. In doing so, Andrew is able to give each horse the individual care and attention they need in order to feel well within themselves, giving them every opportunity to perform to the best of their ability.

Andrew has a genuine love of working with horses and this is evident in the results he gets for his clients. Since taking out his trainer's licence, Andrew has generally maintained a winning strike rate of over 20% - much higher than industry average.

Andrew trains with the philosophy that being hands-on and focussed will yield good results. He enjoys training for owners that share his passion for horses and racing, and looks forward to a long career in the racing industry.
